In 2005 my digital painting took on more importance. Up till now I had
seen it as a sketching tool
(see the
development of
"Grow Your Own Android" from
sketches to final canvas below).
The image sizes in my version of
Dogwaffle did not print well to
any reasonable size and so I did
not see it as a method of printmaking.
During this year with the encouragement
of James Spence of the Glasgow Group,
I developed methods of expanding the
pixel count and producing images that
could be adequately printed on A3 size.
Maybe it was because these images could
now have some use that it gave me a
creative spur in this area. The results
you can see below.

Burning Thistle Dogwaffle Variations |

These
are examples of how I use Dogwaffle and a digital camera to produce
variations on an ongoing painting. Extreme right is the finished
canvas. Extreme left is the canvas at an early stage. Centre are
Dogwaflle variations while producing the work. Mainly this saves me
time. Instead of spending 3 or 4 hours glazing down an area I can do it
in seconds in Dogwaffle and decide whether or not to do the same to the
original.
